Local residents have received the following letters from Camden and Haringey Councils:

Highgate High Street between Cholemeley Park and outside number 19– Carriageway resurfacing

I write to inform you that the Council’s contractor Volkerhighways will shortly be carrying out works to the carriageway in Highgate High Street as part of Camden’s ongoing improvement programme. These works are scheduled to commence on 16 February 2023 and are expected to be completed by 17 February 2023. The works will be carried out on weekdays between the hours of 8.00 am and 6.00 pm.

Haringey Council will also be resurfacing the entire length of Highgate Hill from 13th February to 15th February 2023.

In order to carry out these works it will be necessary to close Highgate High Strret and Highgate Hill between the above locations and traffic diversion will be in place.

Notices giving details of dates and times of any parking bay suspensions will be fixed to posts and street lighting columns. It is essential that you do not park in any areas where parking has been suspended. Any vehicles left in a prohibited area, or otherwise illegally parked, may be removed by the Council’s enforcement contractor or by the police. Please check the parking notices on a regular basis as changes to the works programme are sometimes unavoidable, necessitating changes to dates and times of parking bay suspensions.

Any vehicles that are removed will be taken to the Council’s vehicle compound at Regis Road in Kentish Town, from where they may be retrieved on payment of a penalty charge. The compound may be contacted on 020 7974 4797. The nearest London Underground station is Kentish Town; buses C2, 134, and 214 stop near the station. (In some cases vehicles may be moved to an adjoining street; if so, details of the exact location will be given on application to the vehicle compound and on payment of the penalty charge).

If you are proposing or have commissioned any utility company to undertake works at your property in the near future or have any enquiries or wish to discuss any aspect of the proposed works please contact me on the direct line number given above.

Yours faithfully,

Tekeste Yeshitila, Highways Engineer, Camden Council

Highgate Hill: Carriageway Resurfacing Works (13th February – 17th February 2023)

Dear Resident or Business,

We are pleased to inform you that Haringey Council will be carrying out Carriageway Resurfacing Works in Highgate Hill, N6 – entire length of the road. Please see the Work Location Plan overleaf.

These works are planned to start from 13th February 2023 and finish on 15th February 2023. The
works will be delivered in the daytime from 08:00 – 16:00 hours.
Camden Council will also be resurfacing Highgate High Street from Cholmeley Park to property number 19 from 16th February to 17th February 2023.

The resurfacing works will consist of removal of the existing surface and reinstate with new tarmac surface followed by reinstatement of road markings. The works will also include some utility covers (iron works) for adjustment/renew.

We will make every effort to keep disruption to a minimum during the works. We will, however, need to close the road and the side road and parking nearby out of commission (suspend) to provide a safe working environment for the operatives.

The works will be planned in a manner that minimise the loss of parking spaces and we would ask that you not to park in the suspended parking spaces as it may lead to your vehicle being removed and relocated in nearby street.

Should you require more information please email https://www.haringey.gov.uk/contact/report-it with ‘road resurfacing’ in your email header.

Thank you for your attention.

Anne Cunningham, Head of Highways and Parking, Haringey Council
