Help us map Highgate’s Wildlife Corridors

Our project to increase Highgate’s biodiversity began with a meeting of all the neighbourhood’s major landowners (schools, parks, Parkland Walk, Heath Hands, Omved Gardens, the Golf Club etc) back in September 2022. Inspiring speakers told us about what they were doing on the Heath, in Waterlow Park and elsewhere to create habitats for all sorts of wildlife and encourage corridors to connect them up. This was a useful session for landowners to share best practice with each other.

A few months later in April 2023, we ran a Biodiversity Brainstorm as part of Earth Day celebrations and got down to some practical suggestions about how we can all improve the biodiversity of our patch, however small.

We have now made a start on mapping Highgate’s ecological corridors, connecting our green spaces with each other and allowing plants, animals and birds to move between them. But we need your help. Can you suggest further connecting corridors? Is your garden in one of those we have identified in the map above? If so, do get in touch on info@forhighgate.org.

We would also like to hear from you if you would like to join our Biodiversity Network as we plan an event later in the year to work with our neighbours to develop this project.
